"Farming for a Sustainable Community: A Training Manual" documents the knowledge of Don Bustos, lifelong New Mexican farmer and director of AFSC's New Mexico program, and the farmer-to-farmer training program developed by AFSC to pass down the knowledge he and his ancestors have known for generations.
This resource guide describes how the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) established a farmer-to-farmer training program and facilitated the establishment of a farmer-owned produce brokerage, Agri-Cultura Network (ACN) in the South Valley of New Mexico. It includes an overview and history of farming efforts in the Rio Grande Valley, as well as a description of the collaboration and partnership that took place during a three year, USDA funded pilot program.
