"Isolated in Essex" examines the use of solitary confinement in the immigrant detention facilities at the Essex County Correctional Facility, finding that:

  1. The imposition of solitary confinement in Essex is excessive and disproportionate; 
  2. Essex employs solitary confinement in an arbitrary fashion; and 
  3. The disciplinary process for imposing solitary confiement in Essex lacks transparency and due process

The report was authored by AFSC, New Jersey Advocates for Immigrant Detainees, and the NYU Immigrant Rights Clinic.
