SUPPORT CHICAGO PEACEBUILDING BY DONATING TODAY

Chicago Peacebuilding works to dismantle militarist practices that disproportionately affect communities of color and the Muslim community, and support the wellbeing of those who are targeted and criminalized by state violence. The War on Terror has become a backdrop to all aspects of US society, and a relevant and strong peace movement must address the ways that militarized policing and national security policies affect local communities.

How do we show up?  We work locally and nationally with the movement to defund the police and reimagine community safety.

We are supporting students organizing in Chicago to get cops out of their schools with the #CopsOutCPS campaign, mobilizing communities in support of the demand to #DefundCPD, and amplifying the demand to #FreeThemAll from prisons, jails and detention centers during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Through workshops, youth internships, political education, and direct action, we work in strategic partnership with other abolitionist organizations across the city and country to build the world we want to see.

We helped the #NoCopAcademy campaign engage hundreds of youth activists of color across Chicago, and changed the narrative around policing and safety in Chicago, making it one of the most defining issues in the 2019 municipal elections.

We also helped to shut down a statewide surveillance program that targets and criminalizes Muslims and other communities of color.  Through our work with the #StopCVE Coalition Chicago, we published a report that exposed the Illiniois state CVE program.  We also developed a 6-12th grade curriculum on countering anti-Muslim racism at the individual and structural level, and trained teachers across Chicago on it.

We need your support!  Consider becoming a monthly sustainer, or donating any amount to help us continue our work to dismantle systems of racist violence and building lasting peace with justice..
