The American Friends Service Committee values your support and is committed to protecting your online privacy. You can visit our web site without revealing any personal information.
Information we collect
Our web servers do automatically collect some non-identifying basic information from your visit to help measure web site activity and improve our site. This information includes standard information exposed any time you visit a web site including your IP address, browser type, computer type, the pages requested, and referring web site.
In addition, AFSC uses third party services throughout the Sites, such as Google Analytics, to place first party and/or third party cookies on devices that access the Sites. These cookies enable AFSC to track how our Sites are used, which portions of the Sites are visited and which items our visitors find most interesting. To opt out of use of our cookies for tracking, you may visit Google’s advertising policy page.
We also use certain third party service providers to place advertisements to market AFSC on sites across the web. We place a cookie on your browser, and then a service such as Google reads these cookies and may serve an ad for AFSC on a 3rd party site. You may opt out of this ad serving by visiting Google’s advertising policy page. If you are concerned about 3rd party cookies served by networks, you should also visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
On occasion, we may conduct online surveys to learn more about our audience and their preferences. Information requested on such surveys is not personally identifying and will be used only in aggregate for research purposes (except in cases where you request follow up information or specifically consent to another use).
We want to be clear. We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site unless you choose to provide such information.
Volunteering personal data
You may voluntarily submit your email address or other personally identifying data to take part in an activity on the site, such as to sign up for a mailing list or participating in advocacy. In this case, we will use your information to send you the requested mailings or as part of the advocacy work you are supporting. We may also send you occasional messages about other AFSC programs and information sources. You can unsubscribe from an AFSC mailing list at any time by responding to the instructions provided at the bottom of each message. We do not share our email lists with other organizations.
If you have any questions about or want to correct any information you have shared with AFSC via one of AFSC’s web sites or email lists, please contact us by email at email@example.com.
Email This Page
From many of our web pages, you can email a message to your friends recommending that they visit a page. When you use our “email this page” feature, we ask for your email address, and email addresses of the recievers. We do not collect this personal information; it is used only to let your friends know who sent the email message. We do check our web logs to see which pages are forwarded most often, but we do not use any personally identifying information about you or your friends from this feature.
If you choose to make a donation to AFSC, you will be asked to submit financial and contact information to allow us to collect the donation and provide you with a receipt. The AFSC makes every effort to insure the secure collection and transmission of sensitive visitor information using industry-accepted data collection and encryption methodologies.
To keep our donors informed about the work of AFSC, we send out periodical mailings through the U.S. Postal service with program details and other information. Once a year we offer an opportunity to be removed from our mailing list. On occasion, we may exchange the contact information from our donor lists with other non-profit organizations. If you do not wish to participate in such exchanges, you may opt out by calling:
