AFSC's Wabanaki Program draws tribes, state workers, and communities together to confront injustices and promote healing among Maine's four Wabanaki tribes, the Maliseet, Micmac, Passamaquoddy and Penobscot. The work is based in Tribal communities in Houlton, Presque Isle, Pleasant Point, Indian Island and Indian Township. In an area where negative stereotypes are all too common, AFSC also brings together Native youth and youth from neighboring communities for activities that break down barriers and encourage friendships.
