At AFSC we believe that to achieve peace, we must also work for justice. This year has been a momentous year for peace and justice, from the Arab Spring to the Occupy Movement. From Egypt to Wall Street, ordinary people are using the power of nonviolence to hold our political and economic systems accountable. Everyone deserves a job, a home, a voice.
I’ve been impressed, moved, and inspired by AFSC’s work for economic justice this year. We’ve helped communities in Africa take control over their own lives, trained community farmers in New Mexico who are now providing organic vegetables to local schools, supported the new generation of activists who started the Occupy Movement, and much more.
All of our accomplishments require partnerships: with communities, with volunteers, and with our donors. Your financial support means that we can fulfill commitments to our partners in this country and abroad. I want you to know how grateful we are for your involvement and caring concern for those who are vulnerable in our wounded world.
Please take a few minutes to watch my video updates about the work AFSC has been doing during 2011. I hope you will share my excitement about the valuable, life-changing work carried out by our staff around the world every day, and give a generous year-end donation to support our work in the New Year.
With best wishes for your own peaceful holidays,
