Education as a Human Right
We invite you to attend the premiere of Education: A Human Right, a documentary exploring a key issue of our time: education, resources and race, as seen through the eyes of those most affected, the students.
This event is Tuesday April 23, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Carlow University, in the Kresge Theatre of the Grace Library building. (Please see http://www.carlow.edu/mapdirections.html for a campus map.)
The screening of this 24-minute film will be followed by a discussion of possible solutions with a panel of civic leaders and education experts (including youth) and the audience.
High school students in the American Friends Service Committee's Racial Justice Through Human Rights group worked with the Youth Media Advocacy Project and Carlow University student mentors to create this film, with the help of documentary filmmaker Kris Veenis and Rachel Shepherd of Steeltown Entertainment. The high school students came from a variety of local schools, city and suburban, public, private and charter.
We hope you will join us for this very special and important evening
