For more than two decades, the Prison Watch Program of the American Friends Service Committee, located in Newark, New Jersey, has been collecting testimonies in the form of letters from prisoners across the United States. “Testimonies of Torture” documents uses of physical, chemical, and no-touch torture, among other human rights abuses, in New Jersey prisons. In effect, it provides witness that torture is not only used extensively, but actually condoned in New Jersey.

We join with prisoners, their loved ones, and activists on both sides of the walls throughout the state in saying, not in our name.
