Sanctions have been delaying lifesaving aid to people in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) for many years. In this COVID-19 pandemic, these delays represent a threat to global health security.
More than 10 million people in DPRK are in urgent need of food assistance, and over 10 million are in need of health assistance, according to the United Nations.
Congress can help address this by allowing nonprofits like AFSC to deliver aid to ordinary North Koreans.
Tell Congress: Include the Enhancing North Korea Humanitarian Assistance (ENKHA) Act in the next legislative relief package to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
