What You Can Do to Help
Tsunami Survivors
Many people have asked us what they can do to help. Below are some examples of the many creative activites communities have begun.

You can use our Indonesia relief flier (PDF) at your event.
You can also check out the Friends Council bulletin board for inspiring ideas for meaningful student actions and fundraising initiatives in response to the tsunami devastation.
Educational Activities
Indonesian Meal
Have students research recipes and prepare them for class.
Card Contest
Using a theme (ie., “Children around the World,” “Helping our Neighbors,” etc.) have students draw pictures for a school-wide contest. The winning pictures could be printed as cards, and sold for St. Valentine’s Day. Pictures can also be featured on AFSC’s website.
Book Report
Students can choose books from authors or topics in the region and write reports on them.
Country Reports
Students pick different countries and sectors within those countries (e.g., Indonesian culture, Sri Lankan languages, Thai food), and do mini-presentations for the class on their topics.
Fundraising Activities

Hilary's House (PDF, 20 KB)
Hilary's House is a small scale creative ornament made from low cost, easily available material, to promote friendship and raise funds for those who lives were affected by the Tsunami.
Card Contest:
(See above) Proceeds can be donated to relief efforts
Lunch bags
Children make lunches and sell them to teachers or parents either at school or after meetings.
Bracelet
Kids make bracelets and sell them inside/outside school
Attic Treasures
Have a large tag sale/yard sale of used items
Bake Sale
Sponsored Dance
Pay an entrance fee/sell baked goods
Sporting Event Fundraiser
Contribution Box
Leave collection box at entrance to meetings, schools, markets.
