On June 21, Austin took a bold stand to become the first "sweat-free" city in Texas, adding its voice to those of over 150 state and local governments nationwide. By adopting the Procurement Code for Humane Workplace Conditions, our City Council ensured that the two million dollars Austin spends each year on garments will not go to suppliers who engage in sweatshop abuses.

Call Congress March 24-28 to Stop the U.S.-Colombia FTA Vote
The Bush Administration is using “national security” arguments to force a vote on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) immediately after the March recess over the objection of Congressional leadership.
Call or visit your members of Congress while they are home, asking them to publicly oppose the FTA and tell Congressional leadership not to consent to a vote.
