Des Moines mayor calls for new priorities at Hiroshima observance

The United States needs a budget that takes care of its people and needs to push for a nuclear test ban, according to Frank Cownie, Mayor of Des Moines.

Cownie spoke at an observance of the 70th anniversary of Hiroshima-Nagasaki, organized by Catholic Peace Ministry, WILPF, AFSC and others. The event was held at the Japanese Bell on the State Capitol grounds. (In this 9-minute audio, Mayor Cownie is introduced by Erika McCroskey, Director of Catholic Peace Ministry.)
