Protesters stand in silent witness on Elm Street, Greensboro.

Thanks to everyone who joined the hundreds of thousands across the country rallying to support immigrants last Saturday. The rally themes in Charlotte summed up the sentiments of the events across North Carolina: “YES to schools, YES to libraries, YES to jobs, YES to families, NO to 287g!”  See below for links to photos and press coverage of AFSC & Immigrant Solidarity Committee sponsored May 1 events in Charlotte, Durham, and Greensboro.

The struggle doesn’t stop here. We must continue to press on for an end to draconian immigration enforcement which rips apart families and for just and humane immigration reform. Read on to see all the press coverage and photos from the May 1 events.
