Internet
Privacy Policy
The American Friends Service Committee values your support
and is committed to protecting your online privacy. You can visit
our web site without revealing any personal information.
Collection of general information
Our web servers do automatically collect some non-identifying
basic information from your visit to help measure web site activity
and improve our site. This information includes your IP address,
browser type, computer type, the pages requested, and referring
web site.
Like many other websites, the AFSC web site also deposits certain
bits of information called “cookies” in a visitor’s
computer. Cookies help us distinguish repeat visitors from first-time
visitors and give us helpful information about how our pages
are viewed. This technology does not collect personal, identifiable
information.
On occasion, we may conduct online surveys to learn more about
our audience and their preferences. Information requested on
such surveys will not be personally identifying and will be used
only in aggregate for research purposes (except in cases where
you request follow up information or specifically consent to
another use).
We want to be clear. We will not obtain personally identifying
information about you when you visit our site unless you choose
to provide such information.
Volunteering personal data
You may voluntarily submit your email address or other personally
identifying data to take part in an activity on the site, such
as to sign up for a mailing list. In this case, we will use your
data to send you the requested information. We may also send
you occasional messages about other AFSC programs and information
sources. You can unsubscribe from an AFSC mailing list at any
time by responding to the instructions provided at the bottom
of each message. We do not share our email lists with other organizations.
If you have any questions about or want to correct any information you have shared with AFSC via one of AFSC’s web sites or email lists, please contact us by email at actioncenter@afsc.org.
Email This Page/Tell-A-Friend
From many of our web pages, you can email a message to your
friends recommending that they visit a page. When you use our “email
this page” feature, we ask for your name, email address,
and up to five friends’ email addresses at a time. We do
not collect this personal information; it is used only to let
your friends know who sent the email message. We do check our
web logs to see which pages are forwarded most often, but we
do not capture any personally identifying information about you
or your friends from this feature.
Donation information
If you choose to make a donation to AFSC, you will be asked
to submit financial and contact information to allow us to collect
the donation and provide you with a receipt. The AFSC makes every
effort to insure the secure collection and transmission of sensitive
visitor information using industry-accepted data collection and
encryption methodologies.
To keep our donors informed about the work of AFSC, we send
out periodical mailings with program details and other information.
Once a year we offer an opportunity to be removed from our mailing
list. On occasion, we may exchange the contact information from
our donor lists with other non-profit organizations. If you do
not wish to participate in such exchanges, you may opt out by
calling: 1-888-588-2372,
emailing: ischafroth@afsc.org,
or
writing to:

We may occasionally update this policy. If so, we will post
revisions here.
