The American Friends Service Committee Spring 2007 Eyes Wide Open tour of Pennsylvania was shown at six sites across the state. Two sites were shown in the East, one in a Unitarian church and one at Slippery Rock University. The four sites in the West were at Villanova University and at Two Friends Meetings. The showing at Friends Central School on the Friday before Memorial Day was especially moving as students took the exhibit under their wing, covering the boots and Iraqi shoes with flowers and loving messages. The students’ warmhearted response to the exhibit inspired a local TV reporter to air two live broadcasts from the site. The local evening news program closed with images of the boots.
