The AFSC works internally against the build up of US military bases as well as internationally. There is an internal AFSC Bases Task Force and an international network, of which AFSC is a member, working to build the understanding of the role, cost, and consequences of US military bases around the world, and the necessity to eliminate them. The inaugural conference of the Network was held in Ecuador from March 5 – 9, 2007. More


Social Forum Organizing

"Another World is Possible - Another US is Necessary!"

The first-ever US Social Forum brought people together to analyze the problems facing the movement, build strategy, and to learn from each other. The USSF springboards from the World Social Forum, and the many regional social forums that have taken place all over the world. An AFSC delegation to the 7th World Social Forum in January 20-25, 2007, was held in Nairobi, Kenya. .AFSC is a member of the organizing committee of the USSF. The first forum took place in Atlanta in Summer 2007, and plans are in motion for future social forums in the US. More


United for Peace and Justice

UFPJ is a coalition of more than 1300 local and national groups throughout the US, with the AFSC being one of the biggest partners, to oppose the War in Iraq and the ongoing US policy of permanent warfare. UFPJ has spurred hundreds of protests and rallies around the country, and organized two of the largest demonstrations against the war in Iraq.More
