Mission & Goals

BEATS for PEACE
Building a Movement of Resistance

BEATS for PEACE is a dynamic and engaging way for young people to combine arts and activism -- by taking a stand on political issues through music.

BEATS for PEACE's work includes supporting local artist & activist networks, national tours, community workshops, trainings, and local open mics. Its greatest strength is as a network of social justice organizations, grassroots groups, individual organizers, artists and youth.

We are driven to:

  • Outreach & mobilize beyond the traditional peace movement - with a focus on working with youth of color, low-income youth and urban youth.
  • A young artist speaking with a raised fist.

Work with local community artists and organizations to raise local/U.S. domestic issues and connect these struggles to those in communities outside of the U.S.
  • Highlight local artists and organizations promoting justice issues.
  • Collaborate with local and national youth organizations.
  • Promote new ways to combine cultural expression and peace and justice issues.
