Prayer Vigil for Peace in the Middle East
The Middle East Peace Education Program is currently reaching out to churches to invite their participation in a nationwide ecumenical prayer vigil for peace in the Middle East. Having begun in the year 2000, this vigil is now ongoing in all 50 states. Each day of the month, a vigil takes place in one or two states on a rotating basis.
In addition to focusing worshipers' prayers and attention to the conflict in the Middle East, the vigil is also an opportunity for further education about the situation through speakers, discussion groups, or videos.
Coordinated by Peaceful Ends through Peaceful Means: A Christian Witness for Peace in Israel and Palestine, the vigil is to continue and grow until the cycle of violence in the Middle East ends.
AFSC invites members of congregations to talk to their churches about participating in this vigil. We also welcome any contact information for churches that might be interested. Please call the Middle East Peace Education Program of the AFSC Los Angeles office at (213) 489-1900.
