AFSC's Southern California Branch opened in Pasadena in 1942, and eventually became known as the Pacific Southwest Regional Office. It now facilitates program work in four states, with area offices that span more than 3,000 miles of the globe. In June, 2006, after more than 60 years in Pasadena, the office moved to downtown Los Angeles.

The following is a brief historical timeline focusing on AFSC presence in the Los Angeles area, as well as the initiation of programs in the rest of the AFSC's Pacific Southwest Region. For more information on the history of the organization as a whole, please visit the AFSC History page within the national section of the organization's website.
