Getting to Our Office in Downtown L.A.

We are located at 634 South Spring Street, on the east side of the block between 6th and 7th Streets, in the historic core of downtown Los Angeles.

AFSC Los Angeles is on the third floor of the Banks-Huntley Building.

Our office is on the third floor of the historic Banks-Huntley Building, built in 1930 and now operated as a nonprofit center by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF).

Note that some of our sponsored events are held on the ground floor of the building (look for posted signs or indications in the event publicity).

You will receive a visitor's pass upon signing in at the front desk.

There are two "inverted-U" bicycle racks in front of our building (where the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition also happens to be headquartered).

BikeMetro's Route Planner will map out a cycling route for you—accompanied by an elevation graph and calculations on gas money saved, carbon emissions reduced, and calories burned!

The Bicycle Kitchen is a community-based organization in Los Angeles that will help you to fix your bike for a donation (no one turned away for lack of funds). They are also a source for other information on biking in Los Angeles.

Parking

Metered street parking is available on Spring Street (free after 6 PM).

Validated parking is available at nearby Joe's Auto Parks. You can either pay for parking at these lots and receive your money back upon presenting a sticker obtained from our office, or often the attendants will let you park without paying if you explain that you'll be right back with the sticker.

If you will be parked in the evening, it is a good idea to ask the attendant how late the lot will be open and/or staffed.

The Joe's Auto Parks nearest to our office (also shown on the AFSC Office and Vicinity map) are as follows:

  • 633 S. Spring St. (Lot)
  • 640 S. Spring St. (Lot)
  • 637 S. Main St. (Lot)
  • 530 S. Spring St. (Garage)
  • 730 S. Spring St. (Lot)
