American Friends Service Committee Hosts an interdisciplinary Conference on State-Organized Systems of Violence and Strategies for Justice and Healing Saturday, November 17, 2007
About Our ProgramAFSC's Pacific Mountain Region helps grass roots communities organize actions and develop a voice in public decision-making. We bring people to the table who often otherwise don't have access. The region works from a community base, so our work is broad. Once we get involved with a community, we tend to stay: fifty years with farm workers in the Central Valley, thirty years in the California prison system, fifty years with the American Indian community of the Bay Area, Northern California and Western Nevada, almost twenty years with Bay Area homeless people, thirty years working for peace in the Middle East with Christians, Muslims, Jews, and others.
