Kansas City, MO
AFSC’s work in Kansas City includes exposing the human and economic costs of the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We challenge federal budget priorities and connect inadequate funding for jobs, health care and education with uncontrolled military spending. We move beyond opposing war to promote a foreign and domestic policy based upon human security for all people and all nations.
AFSC staff and volunteers frequently use the arts to portray our shared vision of peace and justice for all. We rely upon strong relationships with diverse community partners and volunteers to organize events, vigils, advocacy campaigns and other actions for peace. We recognize that an effective, sustainable peace movement must be supported by more than just the progressive minority.
Our work seeks to increase the number of community members who are engaged advocates for peace. We involve youth activists and encourage their leadership roles in the peace movement.
