The West Virginia Economic Justice Project (WVEJ) works statewide on issues affecting low income and working families. The project helps people get the best possible deal from the current system, engages in campaigns to gain or defend economic rights for workers and low income families, and builds effective coalitions in support of economic justice for all people.

WVEJ and allies have successfully advocated for many legislative and policy changes, including the creation of a state Office of Minority Affairs to address racial disparities; increased coal mine safety; the expansion of Medicaid to cover 130,000 previously uninsured West Virginians; childcare subsidies for working families; reducing prison overcrowding; improving child nutrition and physical activity; raising the minimum wage; supporting the creation of a Future Fund from natural resources taxes; improving coverage and prenatal care for teen mothers; supporting passage of a Pregnant Workers Fairness Act; and restoring funding for domestic violence and early childhood programs.
