Take Action: One Last Step

For the past 18 months, we have been working together to help pass the Jubilee Act (S2166), the most significant piece of U.S. debt cancellation legislation since Jubilee 2000. A critical step remains as the Jubilee Act comes before the Senate with only two weeks before Congress goes on its summer recess. Our best hope to pass the Jubilee Act in the Senate is before recess and the onset of full-blown election activity.

NEW RESOURCE

World Bank Group Resources & Debt Cancellation

This new AFSC – Jubilee USA joint briefing note, explains how sufficient resources exist within the World Bank to fund an expanded debt relief initiative such as the Jubilee Act (HR2634/S2166), which is currently moving through Congress. This paper concludes that the Bank could mobilize up to $23.4 billion by 2020 to fund debt cancellation without affecting its operational capacity or credit rating. View Here > (876 KB, PDF)
