Civilian Death toll 6,500+ (July and August)

In order to sustain our compassion and hope for Iraq, the peace movement needs to continue building bridges to and supporting Iraqi voices and alternatives. While the majority of Americans now believe the invasion and occupation was wrong, until we understand the needs and desires of the Iraqis themselves the occupation will continue.

That is a core message of the Declaration of Peace Campaign.

Our elected officials need to be held accountable for their continued funding of the war and occupation in Iraq. The request is simple; invest in peace. Demand a comprehensive and speedy timetable for the removal of US troops and bases from Iraq and use the money for compensation, reconstruction and generous subsidies so that Iraq institutions have an opportunity to grow and provide hope to the people.

There are hundreds of activities around the country that you can join.
