Mazen al-Tomeizi, a 26 year-old Palestinian employed by Dubai-based Al Arabiya television was killed in central Baghdad, on Sunday while filming clashes between Iraqi insurgents and U.S. forces.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalist's, Mazen is the 33rd journalist killed in Iraq by US Troops, Iraqi forces, and armed groups since hostilities began in March 2003. The US military authorities have issued conflicting accounts on why helicopter gunships opened fire on the crowd of Iraqis that were around a US military vehicle that caught fire.
