Area office of the CarolinasProgram Initiatives
Immigrant Rights
Project Voice Southeast
program was established in the fall 2004 as
part of the National Project Voice initiative
of the American Friends Service Committee to
help strengthen the voices of immigrant-led
organizations and their allies in setting the
national agenda for immigration policy and
immigrants' rights. Since the launching of the
program, we have engaged in presentations,
community forums, workshops, letter-writing
campaigns, peace vigils, rallies, and
nonviolent marches with recent immigrant and
non-immigrant communities who are strongly
rooted in the search for unity and justice. We
are grounded in the Quaker belief in the
inherent worth of every person and faith in the
power of love to overcome violence and
injustice.The Project Voice Southeast Monthly
E-Newsletter was established in December 2005
as a vehicle for Quaker allies and recent
immigrant/refugee constituents living in the US
South to stay informed and involved with AFSC,
Project Voice, and immigrant-rights-related
actions in the region. Please write
to lkhamala@afsc.org
to subscribe to this monthly
e-newsletter.
The Carolinas Peace and Economic Justice program is a community education and peace building program which builds alliances and support networks to create strategic links engaging those working for peace and alternatives to war and violence. We seek to recruit and engage volunteers interested in peace and social justice. By working collaboratively with local communities striving for alternatives to war and militarism, our aim is to increase public understanding of the human and economic costs of war. Additionally, we seek an increase in public awareness of military recruitment practices and alternatives to war and militarism.
