Lighting the Way Forward: AFSC's Next 90 Years

We are pleased to announce our upcoming 90th Anniversary Gala on May 31, 2008—Lighting the Way Forward: AFSC's Next 90 Years.

We will be recognizing important contributions to the work for peace and justice in the Pacific Southwest Region from:

Directions to the Los Angeles Athletic Club

The Los Angeles Athletic Club is located at 431 West Seventh Street, between Olive Street and Hill Street, in downtown Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Athletic Club has a green awning and is on the north side of the street.

Public Transportation

The nearest Metro stop is the Seventh Street/Metro Center/Julian Dixon, served by the Red Line, Purple Line and Blue Line trains; there are many buses with stops at or near that transit center as well. For complete information on public transportation in Los Angeles, visit www.metro.net.

From Los Angeles Union Station, go to the Red Line and take any train leaving the station; they all stop at the Seventh Street/Metro Center/Julian Dixon stop. When exiting the station, be aware that the Red Line normally stops on the lower platform and you will need to go up two levels (following the signs to Hope Street/Seventh Street). From the Blue Line trains, you will need only to exit the station. From the Hope Street/Seventh Street exit going east, cross Hope Street, Grand Avenue and Olive Street to the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The cost is $1.25/each way.

If you would like to use the Dash bus from Union Station, exit Union Station and cross Alameda Street toward Olvera Street. The Dash DD bus stops right at that crosswalk. Stay on the Dash bus until you pass Macy’s Plaza on the south side of Seventh Street. Get off the Dash bus, cross Seventh Street and Olive Street and the Los Angeles Athletic Club will be a few steps in front of you. The return bus stops in front of the club. Cost is 25¢.

Parking

If you are driving, the parking garage is at 646 South Olive Street.

This is on the east side of the street and Olive Street is one way north. Parking is $4.50 for the day, with no in-and-out privileges.

Entering the Club

There are three small steps to enter the Club from the parking garage; if someone in your party would prefer not to navigate the steps, please drop them off at the front entrance to the club on Seventh Street (driving West). There will be no steps for them getting into the club. After you drop your guests off at the front entrance, proceed to Olive Street, turn right, and continue to the parking entrance.

Once in the club, take the elevators to the third floor. There will be signs to direct you.
