Is Your Retirement Pension Really Socially Responsible?
What Can We Do about TIAA-CREF’s “Israeli Occupation” Portfolio?
Wednesday, September 12, 2012
7 p.m.
Maze Branch Library Meeting Room 845 Gunderson Ave. Oak Park, Illinois
Are you a TIAA- CREF retirement client? Is someone that you know?
Because of its socially responsible reputation, many people are dismayed that more than $2.3 billion of TIAA-CREF’s pension funds are invested in companies that profit from the Israel/Palestine conflict.
More than 24,000 people have signed a national petition that asks TIAA-CREF to stop these investments. Taking such action is not new for TIAA-CREF, which divested from companies during apartheid-era South Africa and the conflict in Darfur.
Join Rabbi Alissa Wise - national Co-Chair of the Rabbinical Council of Jewish Voice for Peace - and Chicago Divests activists.
We’ll discuss the companies in TIAA-CREF’s “Occupation Portfolio,” as well as recent successes and prospects for the TIAA-CREF divestment campaign.
Learn what we are doing in the Chicago area to give TIAA-CREF the opportunity to live up to its motto: “Financial Services for the Greater Good.”
