Theory and Practice of Nonviolence: A Hands-On Workshop

Sunday, April 1, 2012 - 3:00pm - 6:00pm

Description: Prepare for May in Chicago and the coming of NATO! Workshop on Practical Nonviolence with John Volkening and Mary Dean of Voices for Creative Nonviolence.

What is nonviolence? It is an active form of resistance to systems of privilege and domination. It is a philosophy for liberation, an approach to movement building, a tactic of non-cooperation, and a practice we can employ to transform the world. If we want a society without war, violence, and injustice, we cannot use war, violence, and injustice to get there. (From the WRL brochure on Nonviolence)

In this experiential workshop, you'll learn the basics from seasoned professionals and see how nonviolence can work on the streets of Chicago. Free of charge. Sponsored by War Resisters League of Chicago.
