Rob Burns will speak on "Capitalism Considered Harmful." Burns is an economist who did PhD studies in Marxian Economics at the University of Massachusetts, at Amherst. He was involved in the founding of the Grant Park Advisory Council and served as its Chair in its infancy and was President of the South Loop Neighbors Association and active on the board of Friends of Downtown. He was also involved in forming a federation of Regional Park advisory councils to improve our regional parks such as Humboldt, Douglas, and McKinley.
Burns played an active role in the Economics Graduate Student Organization and also devoted time toward union organizing as a graduate student employee and member of local 2322 of the United Auto Workers.
Burns was involved in the campaigns of Harold Washington, Carol Mosely Braun and recently ran for Congress in Illinois's 4th Congressional district for which he was the only other Green Congressional candidate besides our own Laurel Lambert Schmidt who was endorsed by the IVI-IPO.
