Crossroads: A Project about Civility
A monthly gathering of Interfaith Alliance of Iowa. An opportunity to learn, to participate in civil dialogue, and gather with progressive people of faith and goodwill.
(Crossroads will take a break in July and will return in August.)
Speaker: Charlie Day
A member of Des Moines Valley Friends Meeting, Charlie is a retired clinical psychologist who teaches meditation and Buddhist philosophy in Des Moines and at the Iowa Correctional Institute for Women in Mitchellville. He also guides individuals in their meditation practices.
Subject: Buddhism: Philosophy and practices
A brief introduction to Buddhist philosophy and practices as a way of living that is compatible with all religions, which promotes peace within through mediation and mindfulness practices as well as peace without through peace and social justice activism.
