Presentation Goals

  • Overview of  Michigan Peace Team’ vision, mission, and nonviolent tools
  • Share about our work in Palestine
  • Explore how we can make a Des Moines peace team happen

Presenters: Martha Larsen and Liz Walters

Michigan Peace Team [MPT] staffers,  Martha Larsen, and Liz Walters, both long time peace activists who have served on domestic and international nonviolence teams as part of MPT, will give a presentation on the current situation  in Palestine/Israel based on their recent experiences.  They will also discuss the vision and mission of MPT, how MPT puts their vision into action by working in solidarity with the Palestinian people and with internationals and Israeli volunteers to assist Palestinian farmers in the annual olive harvest.

Michigan PT began in 1993 to educate and train people for nonviolent teams to be sent to situations of violence both domestically and internationally.  MPT has sent team to Palestine/Israel since 1996.  They will be seeking persons for future teams.
