Author/Activist/Journalist Gareth Porter, PhD, at the DePaul Art Museum Monday, May 5th, by invitation of Chicago Area Peace Action (CAPA) with Just World Books.
Free and open to the public.

Gareth Porter is an investigative journalist specializing in United States foreign policy. Porter has reported for myriad news outlets including Al Jazeera English, The Nation, Inter Press Service, The Huffington Post, and Truthout. In 2012, Porter was awarded the Martha Gellhorn Prize for Journalism.

Porter is visiting the Chicago area to promote his new book: Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iran Nuclear Scare.

In his book, Porter explores US and Israeli policies vis a vis Iran and allegations of that country’s pursuit of a secret military nuclear program. They have used unsupported accusations to rally support for military action and sanctions to punish Iran. However, documents allegedly stolen from an Iran nuclear weapon facility and used as evidence were in fact fraudulent. Washington and Tel Aviv have manipulated the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iranian officials to report suggestive findings on a weapons program.

Finally, aggressive measures have thwarted Iran’s right to a peaceful nuclear program.
