Leafleting and Petitioning
The nuclear abolition film Countdown to Zero will run at the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge from July 30 to August 5. Meanwhile, the New START Treaty is up for ratification in the Senate. The vote will be tight, and Scott Brown has not announced which way he will vote.
American Friends Service Committee, Massachusetts Peace Action, and Women's International League for Peace and Freedom will be on hand at the theater to speak to film viewers. After watching this powerful movie, people will be interested in taking action, and we will be there to tell them how! To inform that action, we will be distributing leaflets (see text version below,) and we will ask them to sign a petition asking Scott Brown to vote to ratify New START and to support orderly nuclear disarmament, and to contact Brown's office to express their views.
Join us at the theater to leaflet and help gather petitions! We need at least 10 volunteers from 6:30pm - 9:40 pm each night from Friday, July 30 to August 5. There will even be time to watch the film from 7:20 to 9:05 while you are volunteering.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Peace Action office at 617-354-2169 to let us know that you can join us in this fun outreach opportunity!
