FILM-The Loving Story

Monday, December 10, 2012 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

The Loving Story, a 2012 award winning documentary film, tells the story of Richard and Mildred Loving, little known heroes of the Civil Rights era.  Often overlooked among historic civil rights leaders, Mildred and Richard Loving’s quest to live together as husband and wife in the state of Virginia was a pivotal struggle. A white man and a part black, part Cherokee woman were in love and did not understand why their interracial marriage was a criminal offense in the eyes of the state of Virginia...  The Loving Story brings together all groups with stakes in marriage equality to seek out  solidarity and understanding.  This film is a great way to observe International Human Rights Day.  The Culture of Peace and Nonviolence Film Series is sponsored by Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service, AFSC, Temple Beth Jacob, NH Peace Action, UCC Peace with Justice Advocates, and the Concord Unitarian Universalist Church.  All films are free and open to the public.  Discussion will follow the film.
