Faith Communities Drum Down the Walls

Faith Communities Drum Down the Walls

Monday, June 7, 2010 - 10:00pm

WHAT:     Community groups join together to Drum Down the Walls … and March to the Rhythm of Our Hearts.  Unjust laws, detention center walls, and discrimination against anyone in our community. What do these all have in common? All these serve to keep our community divided. We will come together, march to the rhythm of our hearts, in the spirit of Stonewall, we will not be kept apart by any Walls, real or perceived. .

WHY:        Every day 1,000 migrants are rounded up and deported; workers are picked up on their jobs; children are literally ripped away from their mothers when agents ransack homes in the middle of the night, and students are detained and deported on their way to school. As ethical and faith communities we call on Congress and President Obama to pass just and humane immigration reform and to end unjust enforcement and division of our communities.  As members of both immigrant and LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer) communities we join together in our struggles for justice. Justice for immigrants; and for our own liberation across sexual and gender difference.

WHO:       American Friends Service Committee, Boulder VOICE, Boulder Pride, Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, and faith communities and allies from across Denver, Aurora, Fort Collins.
