Chicago Supports Divestment: WeDivest National Week of Action

Sunday, July 13, 2014 - 4:00pm

Come out and join Jewish Voice for Peace's Chicago branch and our allies as we bring the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement to the streets of Chicago as part of the We Divest national week of action (!

10 years ago the International Court of Justice calling on the world to hold Israel accountable for its Separation Wall which de facto annexes areas of the West Bank; the following year a broad coalition of Palestinian civil society issued the call for BDS.

Since then, the BDS movement has seen victories from the European Parliament to Chicago’s own DePaul University.

As Israel escalates its violent collective punishment of the Palestinian people, including detention of hundreds without charge and the killing of several civilians, it is more important than ever to take a stand for human rights and support the global BDS movement.

This action will thank the Presbyterian Church for their historic and brave recent decision to divest $21 million from Hewlett-Packard, Motorola Solutions and Caterpillar. We will be holding a vigil with signs, songs and hand-outs.
