Art for Peace Silent Auction and Reception
Join us at the Providence Friends Meeting House for a silent auction by local artists and a reception with delectable finger food and mulled cider. Items are mostly art objects (jewelry, paintings, woven items, photos, prints, cards, etc) with a wide price range, but there will also be some services (a personalized VIP tour of an art museum with Rebecca Leuchek as guide) and autographed CDs from Bill Harley and John McCutcheon. John will be playing at Stone Soup in Pawtucket at 8:00 pm, so make an evening of it! Buy pieces of art to support the art of peacebuilding. All proceeds support AFSC's Southeast New England Office.
Upon arrival, you will be asked to register and will then be given a bidding number and a program with a list of all the items. You will use your bidding number instead of your name to enter your bid. Each item will have a bidding sheet, which will include what the items sells for and a suggested minimum bid. While silent auctions like this are often places for wonderful bargins, we have suggested minimum bids in an effort to honor the hours of labor that go into most works of art.
Once you make your initial bids, there will be food, live music, mulled cider, and great company to enjoy. You might want to periodically check on your bids and increase them as needed. At 7:45 pm we will close the bidding, and announce the winners. If you are not able to stay until that time, please make sure that we have your contact information at the registration table so that we can contact you if you have the winning bid on an item.
