AFSC is organizing a national speaking tour for Abir Kopty between June 7-16, 2013.

About Abir Kopty

Abir is a feminist and political activist born in Nazareth and now based in Ramallah, Palestine. She is a former Nazareth City Councilwoman and today works as a media analyst and consultant. Abir is well known for being one of the key organizers of the Bab al-Shams protest village and for her involvement in other popular resistance actions occurring in Palestine. She blogs at

Abir will be speaking about her work on the front lines of the popular protest movement in Palestine, Oslo’s influence on the will to resist among Palestinians, and ways Palestinians are overcoming the obstacles and challenges posed by Oslo and its aftermath.

She will also speak about the Palestinian call for BDS and why BDS is important for resistance on the ground.
