RALLY AND MARCH IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE INTERNATIONAL FIGHT AGAINST FASCISM.
Featuring Chicago activists and poets speaking out about the fight against racism in Chicago and abroad.

Saturday, March 22, 2014
2:00pm
Consulate General of Ukraine
10 E. Huron St.
Chicago, IL

We will begin with a rally in front of the Ukrainian Consulate and then march to the Greek Consulate (~0.5 miles), with speakers and poetry performances at both locations.
--------------------------------------------------

In Greece, we have seen one of the clearest and most vicious examples of the resurgence of fascism, embodied in the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party. More recently, in Ukraine, we have seen neo-Nazis co-opt a popular revolt and steer the country into the arms of fascism. And these fascists have counterparts in many other countries.

On March 22, we in Chicago will join thousands of allies across the globe for an International Day Against Fascism and Racism. We do this not only to stand in solidarity with the people in Greece, Ukraine, and other countries actively fighting against fascist movements, but also because we know that we in the United States are not immune to fascism ourselves. We know that fascism and racism go hand-in-hand. And ours is country more steeped in racism than perhaps any other on the planet.

Only by actively fighting against racism and rejecting the borders that divide us can we defeat fascism. This is a global fight and it will take all of us to win.
