18th year of nonviolent protest against Chicago's Air & Water Show

Saturday, August 14, 2010 - 9:00am - Sunday, August 15, 2010 - 4:00pm

Join the 18th year of nonviolent protest against
Chicago's Air & Water Show

9:00am-4:00pm
Saturday-Sunday, August 14-15, 2010

We will gather at the east end of the pedestrian bridge which crosses Lake Shore Drive about two blocks north of North Avenue. (see attached map)

For two days, people from all over the Midwest are inflicted with this glorification of military weapons. But this is NOT family entertainment. It is a military commercial for recruiting our young, enormous military budgets and the promotion of military might. According to the War Resisters League, the military/Pentagon will spend over $670 billion in Fiscal Year 2010 PLUS $300 billion for nuclear weapons, recruitment, retirement, etc. That's nearly $1 trillion, over $2 billion a day. This treasure should be used for life giving activity, not life taking. We all need to give some of our time to create such a world. If not now-when? If not here-where? If not us-who?

Come for as long as you wish. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Port-a-potties are nearby.
