Coloradans for Immigrant Rights
Organizing Citizens to Support Immigrant Rights!
| Two CFIR members spoke at a press conference organized by AFSC in support of immigrant rights. |
Across the country, immigrants are organizing to claim their dignity and impact policies affecting them. However, public discourse is heavily slanted against the idea that immigrants should have full human rights, a significant obstacle for immigrant organizing. In order to remove that obstacle, the general public needs to have a better understanding of immigrants' struggles and contributions, and mobilize to support immigrant rights.
To respond to this, AFSC started Coloradans
for Immigrant Rights (CFIR) in 2005.
CFIR is a group of volunteers
educating citizens about the human rights of
immigrants in order to contribute to a more
nuanced discussion of this issue. Our goal is
to build a network of people who will take
action in support of Immigrant Rights.
We believe:
-
Immigrants deserve to be treated with respectImmigrant Rights supporters at Denver Rally. - Immigrants enrich life within our communities and our culture
- Immigrants should have a voice in the discourse over decisions that affect them
- Allies, with the guidance of immigrants, can help change the hearts and minds of the public through education and outreach
- Working for justice for immigrants helps us build an inclusive and loving society for all of us

Blog
The Coloradans For Immigrant Rights Blog is a way to connect with CFIR members and other allies in the immigrant rights movement in Colorado. A blog is another way for us to further explore the deeper nuances of the issue and come up with creative responses and solutions, while continuing to build a community equipped and willing to work together. Also, it’s a method for keeping interested folks all over the state informed on the progress of our various campaigns. From increased immigrant positive letters to the editor, to adopting policy makers, to organizing support of immigrant led initiatives, we stay very busy and we hope you want to hear about it. - See a list of links with additional information regarding immigration.
