You Have The Right
To Opt-Out of military recruiting harassment
Do You Know: that all publicly funded High Schools have to give student's personal contact information to military recruiters?
Find out more...
UNLESS: You, as a student OR a parent, sign an Opt-Out form to have your name removed from their lists.
Download an opt-out form here.
If you are in the Hartford Area: download the Hartford Schools Opt-out Form
turn this form into your school's guidance office and ask them to remove your name from the list they give to military recruiters.
Yes, any student, regardless of age, can sign the form WITHOUT a parents' signature (read the Dept. of Education email verifying this right)
GET INVOLVED IN COUNTERING MILITARY RECRUITMENT IN SCHOOLS
ORGANIZE: If you are a student - there are groups of students throughout the state who are organizing in their schools to oppose aggressive military recruiting practices (groups meet in Hartford, Norwich and Terryville, for instance). Contact us to find students in your area
If you are an adult - there are adults organized to provide "Alternatives to Military Recruiting" throughout the state. Contact us to link up with a local group in your area or to organize a training workshop to get one started.
