Legacies of Iraq War - Lucky Garcia Part #1

Part #1: Lucky Garcia served in the Army for 8 years attaining the rank of Sergeant. She was deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2006 where she worked with Iraqis gathering intelligence and in the process gaining insight into Iraqis' lives. She shares her perspectives on the legacies of the Iraq war for both U.S. troops and for Iraqi citizens.

On  March 19, the Anniversary of the Iraq war, at UMKC a panel provided five insightful perspectives on the legacy of the Iraq war and lessons for the future. Several peacemaking groups such as AFSC were exploring the factors that might avoid a repetition of war with Iran.

How do we evaluate the legacy of nine years of war in Iraq and prevent our repeating mistakes in Iran and elsewhere?

First steps are facing the truth about how the U.S. public was manipulated and frightened into accepting war and the truth about the devastation the war has wrought for Iraq and the U.S.

Hear a panel speak about the human, economic and political impacts of the Iraq war on Iraq and the U.S., analysis of U.S. Iran relations and how lessons from Iraq can guide U.S. Iran policy.
