Conference on Truth Commissions and Transitional Justice begins in Burundi

Over 50 participants from nine countries gathered with members of the news media to listen to remarks for the opening ceremony and shared high expectations for the work during the three-day conference and of the eventual establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission for Burundi.

“Transitional Justice Mechanisms: Lessons Learned from Truth and Reconciliation Commissions” conference will be opened with remarks from a representative of the Government of Burundi and a United Nations official. They will welcome participants and introduce the topic of transitional justice in Burundi.
