Over 50 participants from nine countries gathered to listen to remarks for the opening ceremony and shared high expectations for the work during the three-day conference and of the eventual establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission for Burundi.

“Transitional Justice Mechanisms: Lessons Learned from Truth and Reconciliation Commissions” conference will be opened with remarks from a representative of the Government of Burundi and a United Nations official. They will welcome participants and introduce the topic of transitional justice in Burundi.
