People of all ages and backgrounds join the 2nd Annual Walk Against Genocide, featuring survivors of genocide now living in the Bay Area and their supporters, to prevent future mass atrocities like those in Sudan and Congo. Activities include a 3-mile walk in solidarity around Oakland’s Lake Merritt (starts 2 pm), presentations by world renowned experts influencing public policy, training by humanitarian groups for grassroots peaceful prevention, and music by acclaimed soul singer-songwriter Martin Luther McCoy.
