They came to the Friends House to learn but, as we should have expected, they taught and they inspired.

Recently three Central College students serving as AFSC Iowa Peace Fellows participated in a day-long orientation about AFSC, peace building, and change making.

AFSC's contribution to the Mission Cultural Center's Day of the Dead exhibit by Art Hazelwood and Juan Fuentes. The boots and names on the wall represent Latino Californians killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

AFSC, with artists Juan Fuentes and Art Hazelwood, is sponsoring an altar for the Mission Cultural Center's Dia de los Muertos celebration. The altar features Eyes Wide Open boots representing Latino Californians and artwork from AFSC's new traveling exhibit, Windows and Mirrors, which will open locally next year.

Counter-NATO Summit Conference in Lisbon, Portugal Nov. 19 & 21

The NATO heads of state, including President Obama, will meet in Lisbon to promulgate a new NATO doctrine for the nuclear and increasingly global alliance. Leading European and other peace advocates will gather for a counter-summit conference that will be live streamed on the web: www.no-to-nato.org.
