Unfinished Portraits Afghan War Memorial Event

October 7th will mark the 11th Anniversary of the start of the Afghan war. On October 6th the American Friends Service Committee with other area organizations will hold a memorial event including the display from 6pm to midnight of an art installation, Unfinished Portrait, an Iraq and Afghan war memorial by Priti Gulati Cox, a Salina, KS artist and reading and spoken word performances.

Youth Civic Engagement Project

The Kansas City Program of the American Friends Service Committee invites school and youth programs working with high school-aged youth to participate in creative projects, which will use the arts to engage youth in issues of war, peace, economic justice and hope for the future.

Visions of Peace Parade

A Peace Parade was led by Peace Planters one of over 30 groups supporting the AFSC organized Visions of Peace at the Crossroads Festival on June 1, 2012. The parade include giant puppets created by Joann McMillan and a song written by Nick Pick for the event.

The Kansas City AFSC is seeking part time paid peace interns to work with AFSC staff and volunteers in support of our peace campaigns. The intern will work eight to ten hours each week between August 2012 and May 2013.
