Building Capacity for Mediating Elections-Related Conflicts in Africa

In June 2010, AFSC Burundi organised a regional conference on mediating elections-related conflicts in Bujumbura. The three-day conference brought together participants from Benin, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Zimbabwe to dialogue and exchange on the causes and flashpoints of elections-related conflicts and on strategies and approaches for mediating electoral disputes.

Regional Seminar in Burundi on Mediating Elections-related Disputes

About 40 high level participants are expected to participate in a regional seminar on the theme, “Mediating Elections-related Conflicts” being organised in Bujumbura, Burundi, by the American Friends Service Committee from 9 – 11 June 2010. The aim of the seminar is to contribute to peaceful elections by sharing experiences, knowledge and building mediation capacity within Burundi and other African countries.
